چکیده
A longitudinal stage separation (LSS) scheme for a parallel-arrangement two-stage-to-orbit (TSTO) vehicle is proposed and analyzed in detail, which the orbiter moves along upper surface of booster. TSTO concept comprising waverider spaceplane was designed to numerically investigate dynamic characteristics LSS at Mach 7. The influence spike models assembled nose on different angles attack (AoA) (i.e., with half cone, cone-disk, hemispheric spike) explored. Moreover, aerodynamic interference were compared spiked configurations. during simple weak, only associated type VI shock/shock interaction, rapid increases axial force when shock waves both stages converge. Furthermore, model cone has best performance drag reduction by 7%, whereas cone-disk worst that force. [Formula: see text] 5 deg advantageous because high weak interference.

Flow in the first two-stage of V 94.2 gas turbine is simulated numerically. In this turbine, the second stator is clocked relative to the first stator to different positions. Steady-state analysis was carried out by varying the circumferential relative position of the consecutive stator vanes to study the effects of the clocking on turbine performance. A density based compressible inviscid ...
متن کاملControllability Investigations of a Two-Stage-To-Orbit Vehicle
For the real-time computation of closed-loop controls, guidance methods have been recently developed by the authors which are based on the theory of neighboring extremals and/or the multiple shooting algorithm. Because of their close relationship, these methods have a comparable domain of controllability, i.e., the set of all deviations from the nominal optimal trajectory which can be compensat...

متن کاملNumerical Investigation of Rotating-Stall in a Stage of an Axial Compressor with Two Different Approaches
An unsteady two-dimensional finite-volume solver was developed based on Van Leer’s flux splitting algorithm in conjunction with “Monotonic Upstream Scheme for Conservation Laws (MUSCL)” limiters and the two-layer Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model was also implemented. To validate the solver, two test cases were prepared and the computed results had good agreements with reference data. The rotating...

An experimental study was conducted to determine the proximity aeroheating characteristics for a two-stage-to-orbit concept in close proximity in the NASA Langley 20-Inch Mach 6 Air Tunnel. A new hybrid discrete thin-film resistance gauge technique was evaluated in this study and used to measure experimental interference heating levels between the booster and the orbiter at a constant freestrea...
